We LOVE Our Community!

Whether it's teaching financial literacy in our schools, providing real life work experience for high school students, volunteering at community organizations, or participating in local events, we LOVE giving back to the communities we serve!

High School Student Run Credit Union

Each year students from McGavock and Hillsboro High School are hired as interns and work in our branches throughout the summer. This opportunity prepares them to operate their own branch in their respective school during the year. Students gain real-world work experience, enhanced financial literacy, and build their own money management skills.

USCCU staff spends over 3,800 hours each year mentoring these students and providing experiences such as industry tours, job shadows, and classroom speaking engagements. Our mission is the educate these students so they can lead our future generations and make the best financial decisions.

USCCU is honored to have been recognized for our work with the schools by previously winning awards for:

  • Mayor’s Award for Outstanding School Partnerships

  • Business Partner of the Year

  • Experiential Learning Innovator of the Year

Take a tour of our student run branches here.

You’ll see these young professionals in our branches so be sure to say hello and ask them about their experience at USCCU!

Elementary and Middle School Programs

To help our local students learn good financial habits at an early age USCCU works with local elementary and middle schools to offer a savings program where students can open accounts and make deposits twice a month at their school. These students can watch as their money grows and they learn from our representatives who help them set savings goals.

We continue to grow this program year after year impacting more and more students! Click here to learn more about our student savings programs.

Financial Literacy

Along with our High School Student Run Branches and savings programs at local schools, each year we support teachers through our Teacher of the Year awards and our in-branch school supply drives. We know many teachers have to spend their own money to supply their classrooms, so we want to be there to support them and show our appreciation for the work they do every day.

Credit Unions for Kids Golf Classic

In 2010, USCCU helped form the Credit Unions for Kids Golf Classic which benefits the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. To date the golf tournament has raised over $400,000 for the hospital to help local families get the care they need for their children. USCCU made a dedication to the tournament to fulfil the credit union motto of “People Helping People”. Our tournament is unlike any tournament as we take a childlike spirit by creating games and an ever-changing tournament so each year there is a new surprise to have participants waiting on the edge of their seat.

Volunteer Work

USCCU employees spend numerous hours each year volunteering in the local communities we serve. One major volunteer opportunity the credit union coordinates is USCCU Cares Day. Each year in October the credit union shuts the doors for a day and employees go out into the community to help local organizations. From yard work, gardening, and tree removal, to painting and building shelters, our employees show just how much USCCU Cares!

Community Events

If there’s an event happening, there’s a good chance you’ll see a USCCU representative! USCCU loves to be involved community festivals, fairs, parades, etc.
