Scammers are calling and texting consumers posing as financial institutions to gain access to accounts! AS A REMINDER, USCCU WILL NEVER CALL OR TEXT AND ASK YOU TO PROVIDE A USERNAME, PASSWORD, OR ANY VERIFICATION TEXTS.*

Recently financial institutions across the nation have been hit by a wave of scams causing customers/members to lose some if not all the money in their account. As a USCCU member, we want to ensure you are prepared so you do not fall victim to this scam.

SCAM DETAILS:

  • Scammers are calling and texting claiming to represent your financial institution. In fact, scammers are even spoofing the financial institution's phone number so the call appears to be coming from them.

  • The scammers will tell you fraud has been detected on your account, and they can help you get it resolved in a matter of minutes.

  • Scammers are targeting your online banking information.

  • They will ask you to provide your online banking username and password. USCCU WILL NEVER ASK YOU FOR THIS INFORMATION.

  • Once the scammers have your username and password, they will make fraudulent transfers from your account. It only takes minutes for scammers to set up these transfers and steal your money.

NEVER GIVE THIS INFORMATION TO SOMEONE WHO HAS CALLED YOU!

If someone calls you and asks for this personal information claiming to represent USCCU, HANG UP IMMEDIATELY AND CALL THE CREDIT UNION AT 615-256-8712 OR 1-800-304-3436!

Tips for Protecting Yourself from Fraud

Fraud By Phone

Phone scammers will try to get your personal information over the phone by using the tactics mentioned above. Beware of anybody who calls you asking for your personal information, such as account numbers, usernames, and passwords. Your financial institution already has this information and shouldn't be asking you to provide it. IF YOU CALL US, we will need to ask for your account number and to verify your information. And if you get a voicemail from them, asking you to call back, verify their identity first by looking up the number on our website or by calling our member service line at 615-256-8712 to confirm.

Think Before You Click

If a text message or an email looks suspicious or is from an unknown source, do not click on any links, provide any information, or open any attachments. Clicking on a link in a smishing or phishing message could take you to a phony website asking for your account number, password, and other personal information. Or it might download spyware into your computer or mobile device. Don't click on attachments or pictures unless you are sure of the source, since they can also carry spyware.

Fraud Prevention through EnFact

We do use a Fraud Prevention Service known as EnFact, to help protect our members from fraudulent activity on credit and debit cards. You may be notified by EnFact that suspicious transactions, or transactions outside your normal spending pattern, have been noticed on your US Community Credit Union Visa® credit or debit card. Please be assured US Community Credit Union does have a Fraud Prevention strategy that monitors activity for normal and new fraud patterns. If you will be traveling, please call us to let us know of your travel dates so EnFact will know the transactions outside of your normal area are legitimate.
